What do you think?

"Well, there is tagging and there is art. Tagging I consider more when someone just slaps their name on a surface and it does not prove any point. They do not own what they tagged and they are not recognised so they are idiots. The graffiti that is art is pretty cool. There are some amazing talents out there who could be used for doing media marketing, but they would rather graffiti a surface they should not be marking. To each their own I suppose, but I have to admire the art aspect of it. As an artist myself(musician), I am sworn to respect all forms of art...as long as that is what it is...art." - The Original

"I think it depends on the type of graftiti. If it's some dumb punk kid writing stupid shit with no talent on my fence, I'd want to take a brick to his temple. If it's art, some incredible piece that took time and effort, I'd be jealous and absolutely love it. I was pretty pissed when I past my usual favorite piece and saw that it had been painted over because it was "gang related" which was bullshit. I hate how people automatically think graffiti is bad, not even knowing what it is or most the time what it even says. I miss my tagging days, good times." - Noodles

"Graffiti is art only if you put it on your OWN property. If you are contracted to paint someone else's property , then it is OK as well. But if you paint your work on the property of someone else, then it is vandalism and should be punished." -  killbase

"I think it depends on what is done. Scrawling your name or some derogatory comment is vandalism to me, but spraying a decorative picture on a wall could be classed as art. It's how you or I as an individual perceive what we see that matters. I'm sure that a lot of people will disagree with me though." - Allan

"Well, it depends on what has been created. If somebody scribbles their nickname across a bridge with a can of paint, that's not art. If somebody takes time and effort to produce something that communicates and is wonderful and vibrant, then it's art." - Haus1

"Some work under bridges and supports are really cool. Sides of train cars can get very interesting and fun to look at." - Kyle

"Thinking about it that way makes me feel that it's misguided somehow to get angry about the actions of individual taggers. Nevertheless, my gut reaction is the same, and I think it's linked to a subconscious feeling (perhaps misguided) that on some level one's safety in the short or long run is being threatened. People might see encroaching graffiti as an indicator that the safety of their neighbourhood going down hill, which in turn makes them feel unsettled. Afterall, we are human/animals and we are alert to cues that indicate threats to safety. This might explain why younger people tend not to see it as problematic -- they are more fearless. They also have grown up in a culture where urban styles have become increasingly popular and thus tend to see it as cool or at least no big deal." - James

"honestly, im a graffiti artist...and thinking that its just crap is ridiculous. what makes graff any different from art like picasso or someting like that...its all a stereotype saying that graffiti is vandalism and nothing else, and insert name here is totally right, from a famous graff artists mouth" a kid would come up to me and say, look at all this crap, tags are so ugly, and i would say, without those chicken scratches u wouldnt be peicing today" - Coze1
